In a society where inequality and discrimination remain challenging problems, Baan Samer was founded with a vision of building a fair and equal society for everyone, especially for groups of people who are often overlooked or face stigma. We are an organization committed to helping and supporting people living with HIV, people who use drugs, and their families, who often face discrimination and human rights violations in many forms.

Baan Samer Provides Legal Consultation and Assistance
Baan Samer has a team of legal experts and experienced lawyers who help people whose rights have been violated. We provide services covering every step of the legal process, from initial consultation, fact-finding, and gathering evidence, all the way to litigation in court.
Our services cover a range of issues, such as:
- Discrimination in the workplace or in educational settings
- Being denied medical care
- Violation of personal privacy and unauthorized disclosure of health information
- Problems relating to health insurance and other benefits

Baan Samer Provides Comprehensive Health Services
Good health is a vital foundation for a good quality of life. Baan Samer therefore provides health services that are comprehensive and easy to access, including:
Sexual and Reproductive Health Screening
- We provide comprehensive sexual health screening, including counseling on sexual and reproductive health, delivered by a team of doctors and nurses who are skilled and understand the sensitivity of these issues.
HIV Self-Testing (HIVST) Service
- We offer HIV self-testing, along with guidance on how to use the test kit and interpret the results, as well as pre- and post-test counseling, so that clients understand and can appropriately manage their results.
Coordinating Access to Protective Supplies
- Baan Samer serves as a central hub for coordinating and providing protective supplies, such as birth control pills, condoms, and lubricant, free of charge, to promote safer sex and reduce the risk of infection.
Access to Antiretroviral Treatment
- We help coordinate and facilitate access to antiretroviral therapy (ART) for people living with HIV, including providing information and counseling about treatment, along with continuous follow-up on treatment outcomes.
In addition, we also help coordinate access to PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) for people at high risk of HIV infection, and PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis) for those who may have recently been exposed to HIV.
Assistance with Negotiation and Mediation
We understand that going to court is not always the best solution. Baan Samer therefore offers negotiation and mediation services in cases of rights violations, especially those involving HIV status or drug use.
Our team is trained in conflict management and effective communication, to help all parties find a peaceful resolution together. We also work closely with communities to address problems of violence and reduce stigma in society, through education and building understanding.
Baan Samer Provides Mental Health Services and Screening
Mental health is another important priority for Baan Samer. We believe that caring for mental health alongside physical health helps enhance our clients' quality of life. Our mental health services include:
Mental Health Screening
We use standardized screening tools to assess our clients' mental health, so that we can identify problems and provide help in a timely manner.
Individual Counseling
Our psychologists and mental health specialists are ready to provide one-on-one counseling, helping clients manage their emotional and psychological challenges effectively.
Well-Being Activities
We regularly organize activities that promote mental well-being, such as mindfulness practice, yoga, and various creative activities, to help clients build tools for caring for their own mental health.
Group Support
Support groups are another important service we offer, giving people with similar experiences the chance to share their stories, encourage one another, and learn from each other, under the guidance of our specialists. Through Well-Being activities and Group Support, we aim to build a network of mutual support.
Harm Reduction Services for Drug Use
Baan Samer recognizes that drug use is a complex health issue that requires compassionate, understanding care. We therefore apply a Harm Reduction approach in our services, which includes:
- Screening and assessing risks related to drug use
- Providing education and guidance on reducing the harms of drug use
- Providing clean, safe equipment, such as new needles and syringes, to reduce the risk of infection
- Offering counseling and support for entering drug treatment, when the client is ready
We focus on building trust and staying non-judgmental, so that people who use drugs feel safe and comfortable reaching out for help.
