Recent data indicate a growing number of cases, to the extent that health authorities in Thailand have declared a <strong data-start=\"928\" data-end=\"949\">syphilis outbreak<\/strong>, making it essential to understand and prevent this infection.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1016\" data-end=\"1307\"><strong data-start=\"1016\" data-end=\"1055\">Gonorrhea (<em data-start=\"1029\" data-end=\"1052\">Neisseria gonorrhoeae<\/em>)<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"1016\" data-end=\"1307\">Gonorrhea, caused by the bacterium <em data-start=\"1093\" data-end=\"1116\">Neisseria gonorrhoeae<\/em>, presents different symptoms in men and women. The infection usually shows symptoms within a week after exposure, although some people may remain asymptomatic while still being contagious.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1309\" data-end=\"1739\"><strong data-start=\"1309\" data-end=\"1348\">Chlamydia (<em data-start=\"1322\" data-end=\"1345\">Chlamydia trachomatis<\/em>)<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"1309\" data-end=\"1739\">Caused by <em data-start=\"1361\" data-end=\"1384\">Chlamydia trachomatis<\/em>, this infection differs from gonorrhea but is just as common, particularly among teenagers and young adults. Some individuals may not show symptoms at all but can still transmit the infection to others during unprotected sex. While <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/lovefoundation.or.th\/en\/chlamydia-awareness\/\">chlamydia<\/a><\/span> symptoms are often milder than gonorrhea, it still requires proper medical treatment to prevent complications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1741\" data-end=\"2011\"><strong data-start=\"1741\" data-end=\"1778\">Chancroid (<em data-start=\"1754\" data-end=\"1775\">Haemophilus ducreyi<\/em>)<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"1741\" data-end=\"2011\">Chancroid is caused by <em data-start=\"1804\" data-end=\"1825\">Haemophilus ducreyi<\/em>, leading to painful ulcers on or around the genitals. Viral Infections<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2046\" data-end=\"2155\">This group includes <strong data-start=\"2066\" data-end=\"2134\">Herpes, Genital Warts (HPV), Molluscum Contagiosum, Hepatitis B,<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"2139\" data-end=\"2155\">Hepatitis C.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"2157\" data-end=\"2500\"><strong data-start=\"2157\" data-end=\"2185\">Herpes (HSV-1 and HSV-2) <\/strong>Herpes is a lifelong viral infection caused by two main strains: <em data-start=\"2253\" data-end=\"2290\">Herpes Simplex Virus type 1 (HSV-1)<\/em> and <em data-start=\"2295\" data-end=\"2311\">type 2 (HSV-2)<\/em>. While often classified as an STD, herpes can also spread through non-sexual contact, such as kissing or sharing utensils. It is considered one of the most easily transmissible infections.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2502\" data-end=\"2790\"><strong data-start=\"2502\" data-end=\"2525\">Genital Warts (HPV) <\/strong>Caused by the <em data-start=\"2542\" data-end=\"2570\">Human Papillomavirus (HPV)<\/em>, particularly strains 6 and 11, genital warts are among the most common viral STDs. There are over 150 identified HPV strains, and while many are harmless, some high-risk types are linked to cervical and anal cancers.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2792\" data-end=\"3234\"><strong data-start=\"2792\" data-end=\"2823\">Molluscum Contagiosum (MCV) <\/strong>This infection is caused by the <em data-start=\"2858\" data-end=\"2893\">Molluscum Contagiosum Virus (MCV)<\/em> and can occur in people of all ages\u2014from infants to the elderly. It causes small, dome-shaped lesions on the skin. In children aged 1\u201310, the infection can spread easily due to weaker immunity, while healthy adults often recover naturally within a year. Parents should take precautions to prevent children from contracting this infection.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3236\" data-end=\"3529\"><strong data-start=\"3236\" data-end=\"3257\">Hepatitis B and C <\/strong>Both Hepatitis B (HBV) and <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/lovefoundation.or.th\/en\/hepatitis-c-understanding\/\">Hepatitis C (HCV)<\/a><\/span> can be transmitted sexually, through contact with infected blood, or from mother to child. These viruses cause liver inflammation and can lead to chronic liver disease, cirrhosis, or liver cancer if left untreated.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3531\" data-end=\"3753\"><strong data-start=\"3531\" data-end=\"3561\">Human Papillomavirus (HPV) <\/strong>In addition to genital warts, HPV infection is a major cause of <strong data-start=\"3628\" data-end=\"3666\">cervical, anal, and throat cancers<\/strong>. Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent infection and related complications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"3760\" data-end=\"3791\"><span class=\"scroll-to\" data-label=\"Scroll to: #5\" data-bullet=\"false\" data-link=\"#5\" data-title=\"5\"><a name=\"5\"><\/a><\/span>\n<p data-start=\"3760\" data-end=\"3791\"><span style=\"font-size: 110%;\"><strong data-start=\"3764\" data-end=\"3791\">3. These symptoms can appear only in the genital area or affect other parts of the body. In some cases, an infected person may <strong data-start=\"374\" data-end=\"410\">not show any noticeable symptoms<\/strong> at all, yet still carry and transmit the infection to others.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"476\" data-end=\"520\"><em>Common warning signs and symptoms include:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"524\" data-end=\"599\">Rashes, bumps, or blisters appearing on the genitals, mouth, or anal area<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"602\" data-end=\"765\">In women: abnormal vaginal discharge that has an unusual color or strong odor, such as a fishy or foul smell, or persistent vaginal itching lasting several weeks<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"768\" data-end=\"859\">In men: discharge of pus or fluid from the penis and a burning sensation during urination<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"862\" data-end=\"919\">Pain, stinging, or discomfort during sexual intercourse<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"922\" data-end=\"989\">Swollen lymph nodes in the groin area, often painful when touched<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"992\" data-end=\"1048\">Muscle aches, fever, or irritation in the genital area<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1051\" data-end=\"1151\">Other general symptoms such as body rashes, unexplained weight loss, fatigue, and loss of appetite<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1153\" data-end=\"1429\">It\u2019s important to note that <strong data-start=\"1181\" data-end=\"1229\">STD symptoms don\u2019t always appear immediately<\/strong> after infection. Some people may notice symptoms within <strong data-start=\"1286\" data-end=\"1298\">2\u20133 days<\/strong>, while others may take <strong data-start=\"1322\" data-end=\"1346\">months or even years<\/strong> before any signs develop, depending on their immune system and health condition.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1431\" data-end=\"1720\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Additionally, <strong data-start=\"1445\" data-end=\"1490\">STDs pose a serious risk during pregnancy<\/strong>. Infected mothers may experience miscarriage, premature birth, or even stillbirth if untreated. These laboratory tests help confirm the type of infection and determine the most appropriate treatment plan.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"525\" data-end=\"806\">If the infection is caused by <strong data-start=\"555\" data-end=\"567\">bacteria<\/strong>, it can usually be <strong data-start=\"587\" data-end=\"607\">completely cured<\/strong> with proper medication. However, the virus usually remains dormant in the body for life. When the immune system becomes weakened or stressed, symptoms may <strong data-start=\"1686\" data-end=\"1698\">reappear<\/strong>.
